About Boots, Paws and Honor

Boots, Paws and Honor is a veteran-founded nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans care for the loyal companion animals who stand beside them. Through compassion, practical assistance and community support, we honor those who served by protecting the bond between veterans and their beloved pets.

Where It All Began

As a veteran, I understand that some of life’s deepest wounds cannot be seen.  I also know that healing often comes from the unconditional love of an animal.  A loyal dog or cat doesn’t judge your past, your struggles or your circumstances.  They simply love you.

While working at my job, I witnessed stray dogs struggling to survive and heartbreaking acts of cruelty that I will never forget.  Those experiences stayed with me and strengthened my belief that every animal deserves kindness, safety and a chance to be loved. Then one day, everything became personal. A frightened little puppy was brought to me in a blanket. That puppy needed safety, love and someone who would not turn away. I brought that puppy home and gave it the chance every animal deserves, a chance to be loved. As time passed I found another puppy struggling to survive.  I brought her home and now both rescue dogs have become a daily reminder that compassion can change a life and sometimes saving just one life can inspire a mission much greater than ourselves. That is when I realized I had to start this foundation.

Building a Legacy of Hope

Every organization begins with a single act of compassion.

Boots, Paws and Honor is just beginning its journey to serve veterans and their loyal companion animals who stand beside them. While we don’t yet have success stories to share, we are working every day to build partnerships, gather resources and prepare to make a meaningful difference.

We look forward to the day when this page is filled with the real stories of veterans whose lives and the lives of their beloved pets have been changed through the generosity of our supporters, volunteer and community partners.

Until then, we invite you to become part of our story. Together, we can ensure that no veteran has to face hardship without the unconditional love of their faithful companion.
